![]() The coordinated control of BBW and other systems is generally necessary, such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), steer-by-wire (SBW), direct yaw-moment control (DYC). However, AEB applications in critical manoeuvres are still challenging problems. Control schemes and applications for AEB have been studied and a host of effective methods have been proposed. The AEB function is achieved based on the brake-by-wire (BBW) system. Therefore, AEB is a promising solution for vehicle safety and has been mandatory in a majority of heavy trucks in Europe. This system can predict the collision velocity, stopping time and braking distance accurately, and provide much faster braking response. AEB system assesses the necessity of emergency braking according to traffic conditions detected by on-board radars and video cameras. Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) is one of the ADAS technologies, which effectively supports the driver to avoid collisions, and to reduce the severity of unavoidable accidents. The demand for the advanced driving assistant system (ADAS) has increased rapidly since the government and automotive industry are paying growing attention to the improved vehicle safety technologies.
